How to Re-Add the OWA Guard Module in IIS After an Exchange CU Update

How to add the OWA Guard module in IIS after an Exchange CU update

  • Open IIS Manager
  • Navigate to Sites > Default Web Site > OWA
  • Double click on Modules
  • Select Configure Native Modules 
  • Locate OWAGuard Module
  •  
  • The entry will be automatically added to the Modules page

 

NOTE:

If the OWAGuard module is not visible, please perform the following

  • Navigate to:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy\owa
  • Create a copy of web.config file first
  • Locate OWAGuard Module in: <module>
  • Add the following entry: <add name="OWAGuard Module" />
  • Save the file when completed
  • Return to the Modules section in IIS Manager
  • On the Actions pane, select Configure Native Modules 
  • Select the OWAGuard Module from the list 
    • You may need to enter the file path:
    • C:\Program Files\Messageware\owaguard\service worked\og_serviceworker.dll
  • You can perform an IISReset and this should clean all app pools and restore OWA Guard functionality
