How to completely uninstall EPG

This article applies to the following products:

EPG Uninstallation Process Summary

  1. Admin: Disable EPG Protection
  2. Admin: Record database name for uninstall
  3. Uninstall EPG Web Management
  4. Uninstall EPG Monitor
  5. Uninstall EPG CAS (Front-end) Exchange Component
  6. Uninstall EPG Reports
  7. Uninstall EPG Database
  8. Uninstall Remaining Files
  9. Review Uninstallation

 

1: Admin: Disable EPG protection 

  • Navigate to EPG-Admin > Advanced Options > CAS > EPG Protection
    • Set this to disabled and click save
  • This will stop EPG protection and stops the read/write process to the EPG Database

 

2: Admin: Record Database Name

  • In EPG-Admin navigate to database > database.  Record the database name that is being used by EPG, will need this name in Step 7

 

3: Uninstall EPG Web Management

  • Connect to the Server where EPG Web Management is installed
  • On the Server Open Control panel > click on EPG Web Management and click uninstall
    • In the control panel EPG Management will look like this:
  • Select Remove and follow the prompts
  • Take a screenshot of the final screen and save it
    • The screen will be like this:

  • Verify the EPG Web Management entry is removed from the control panel

 

4: Uninstall EPG monitor

  • Navigate to the Server where EPG Monitor is installed
  • In the control panel > click on EPG Monitor and click uninstall
    • In the control panel EPG monitor will look like this:
  • Select remove and follow the prompts
  • Take the screenshot of the final screen and save it
    • The screen will be like this:

  • Verify EPG Monitor entry is removed from the control panel

 

5:  Uninstall EPG CAS component

  • Navigate to the Exchange Server
  • Before removing the EPG CAS component, the World Wide Web Publishing Services (W3SVC) will need to be stopped and set to disabled.

(Note: This will cause a disruption and users will not be able to log in to OWA)

  • Once the services have been stopped, proceed to uninstall the CAS component
  • In the control panel > click on the EPG CAS component and select uninstall
    • In the control panel EPG CAS will look like this:
  • Select Remove and follow the prompts
  • Take a screenshot of the final screen and save it
    • The screen will be like this:

  • After the uninstallation has been completed, restart the World Wide Web Publishing Services (W3SVC)
  • Verify EPG CAS entry is removed from the control panel

 

6: Uninstall Reports 

Open the installation files folder

Note: if you don’t have the original files, you can download the files from Customer Portal

  • Depending on what version of EPG you have - the folder generally looks like this with the newer versions

The folder for versions older than (3.7.0) will look like this

  • Open the Reports installer folder
  • Right-click on the report installer application and run as administrator

  • In the Service Location put in the Service URL
    • This Service URL is in the SQL Report Server Configuration Manager (SSRS)
    • Navigate to the SQL server and navigate to SSRS
    • Select Web Service URL and click on the URL there
    • Copy the URL and paste it in the report installer
  • SQL Server name: Your SQL server name
  • Database Name: Your EPG Database name
  • Username: _______  (sys-admin account)
  • Password for the _______  (sys-admin account)
  • Click connect
  • Once successfully connected click on Uninstall
  • Take the screenshot of the report installer once the uninstallation has been completed

 

7: Uninstall Database 

  • Navigate to SQL server and open the SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Right click on the EPG Database and select delete
  • Check mark “Close all connections” and click delete
      

    

 

8: Uninstall the Remaining files

  • Navigate back to Exchange Server
  • Open file explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Messageware
  • Delete all the files under this folder
  • Verify the files have been deleted

 

9: Verify Uninstallation

  • On the exchange Server Navigate to IIS > Default Website > ISAPI Filters

 

If EPG is uninstalled correctly, without any issues there should not be any Messagware executable entry in the ISAPI Filters like so:

If you see it by chance, you can manually right-click on it and delete it

 

  • Next, Navigate to IIS > Exchange Backend > ISAPI Filters

If EPG is uninstalled correctly, without any issues there should not be any Messagware executable entry in the ISAPI Filters like in the previous step. If you see it by chance, you can manually right-click on it and delete it
