How to Manage the Messageware ISAPI Filter to Temporarily Disable Exchange Protocol Guard

SUMMARY

The Messageware Exchange Protocol Guard (EPG) can be temporarily disabled by removing the Messageware ISAPI filter located in IIS of the external facing Exchange servers where the Messageware product is installed.

To restore the Messageware EPG functionality again, the Messageware ISAPI filter can be re-added to IIS on all external facing Exchange servers where the product is installed

Performing an IIS reset is recommended to clear & re-initialize the application pools on IIS after removal and addition of the ISAPI filter 


RESOLUTION

Removing the Messageware ISAPI Filter for Exchange Protocol Guard 

Open IIS Manager

  1. Navigate to <Servername>\Sites\Default Web Site
    • In the IIS section (mid pane), select ISAPI Filters
    • Remove the entry Messageware 

 

Adding the Messageware ISAPI Filter for Exchange Protocol Guard

Open IIS Manager

  1. Navigate to <Servername>\Sites\Default Web Site
    • In the IIS section (mid pane), select ISAPI Filters
    • Select Add and create a new entry as shown in screen capture
