How to verify and configure the authentication settings and default domain values for OWA virtual directories

This article applies to the following products:
     Messageware OWA Suite 2003
     Messageware OWA Suite 2000


SYMPTOM

  The following issues are amongst the possible symptoms that occur as a result of having a mismatch in authentication settings and default domain values

·         Messageware functionality is not present

·         Users receive additional logon prompts

 

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS

 

How to verify the authentication and Default Domain that is configured for /Exchange and /Public virtual directories

 

1.     Open Exchange System Manager (ESM)

2.     Navigate to the Exchange Virtual Server (\Administrative Groups\First Administrative Group\<Servers>\Protocols\HTTP\Exchange Virtual Server)

3.     Right-click on the Exchange virtual directory, and select Properties

4.     Navigate to the Access tab and click the Authentication button

5.     Repeat steps 3 to 4 for the Public virtual directory

 

How to verify the authentication setting that is configured for /Exchweb, Exchweb/bin, X-CalendarShare, X-CalendarShare\bin, X-AttachView, X-AttachView/bin virtual directories

 

1.      Open the IIS Manager

2.     Navigate to the OWA website

3.     Right-Click on the Exchweb\bin virtual directory, and select Properties

4.     Navigate to the Directory Security tab

5.     Click Edit under the Anonymous access and authentication control section to verify the authentication and Default Domain that is configured

6.     Repeat steps 3-5 for the remaining virtual directories
