OWA users unable to view attachments after applying an ISAPI filter based on Microsoft KB 310594

SYMPTOM

OWA downlevel users are unable to view attachments in Outlook Web Access when applying an ISAPI filter based on Microsoft Knowledgebase article KB 310594.

RESOLUTION

In environments where Administrators have implemented Microsoft KB 310594 to force users to receive downlevel client functionality based on the IIS Web Site they connect to, Messageware has created an environment specific solution to handle these requests.

1.     Apply the AttachView March update

2.     Download and extract ForceReach.dll ISAPI filter from the link below

3.     Remove the ISAPI filter (based on Microsoft KB310594) from the OWA web site

a.     Using the IIS Manager navigate to \Web Sites\<OWA Web Site>

b.    Select Properties on the OWA Web Site

c.     Click on the ISAPI Filters tab

d.    Select the ISAPI filter and click Remove

e.     Click on the Apply and OK buttons

4.     Add the ForceReach.dll ISAPI filter

a.     Using the IIS Manager navigate to \Web Sites\<OWA Web Site>

b.    Select Properties on the OWA Web Site

c.     In the ISAPI Filters tab click on the Add button

d.    For Filter Name, enter “ForceReach” without the quotes

e.     For Executable, click on the browse button and navigate to the location of the ForceReach.dll file

f.     Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service
NOTE: Please ensure that the ForceReach ISAPI filter is located above the Messageware Web Service ISAPI filter by using the Move up and Move Down buttons
