Users are receiving a distorted screen when accessing Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 client workstation

SUMMARY

 

Symptom 1: Internet Explorer 10 users on Windows 8 workstation are unable to access OWA without using compatibility mode

 

Symptom 2: Users cannot preview emails under reading pane.

 

Symptom 3: Duplicate icons appear for Mail, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks

 

RESOLUTION

 

The following updated NavGuard files will correct this behavior.

 

Note: Restarting of World Wide Web Service required.

Note: Apply changes on all Exchange servers where Messageware NavGuard is installed.

 

1. On the CAS, download and extract the following to a temporary location

http://w3.messageware.com/download/support/KB/720_NavGuard_2_1_a_IE10update.zip

2. Navigate to the following location \Program Files\Messageware\NavGuard\Service Worker

a. Rename NG_ServiceWorker.dll to NG_ServiceWorker.old

b. Paste the updated NG_ServiceWorker.dll

3. Navigate to the following location \Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\ClientAccess\ Owa\MWScripts\NavGuard\1.2

a. Rename mw_NGUtil.js to mw_NGUtil.old

b. Paste the updated mw_NGUtil.js

4. Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service for changes to take immediate effect
