CONFIGURATION

OWA Desktop makes two types of requests:

  • Requests for OWA
  • Requests for Exchange Web Services (EWS)

When making OWA requests, no additional configuration is required for the OWA Web Publishing rule on the ISA or TMG2010 server

For EWS requests, a separate Web Publishing rule and Web Listener is required on the ISA or TMG2010 server.

The EWS Web Publishing Rule

The EWS Web Publishing Rule must be configured as follows:

1.     The EWS virtual directory must be added to the paths tab

a.     Right-click on the EWS Web Publishing Rule, and select Properties

b.     Navigate to the Paths tab

c.     Remove any existing paths

d.     Click the Add button

e.     Enter the following path
/ews/*

f.      Click OK, then Apply and OK

g.     Click the Apply button in the main ISA or TMG2010 window to ensure changes are applied

2.     The Authentication Delegation should be set to the following setting

a.     Right-click on the EWS Web Publishing Rule, and select Properties

c.     From the drop down menu, select the following option
"No delegation, but client may authenticate directly"

d.     Click Apply and OK

e.     Click the Apply button in the main ISA or TMG2010 window to ensure changes are applied

The EWS Web Listener

The Authentication must be configured to HTTP Authentication and Integrated by following the steps below

1.     Locate and right-click the EWS Web Publishing rule, and click Properties

2.     Navigate to the Authentication tab

3.     Select HTTP Authentication located under Client Authentication Method
