Messageware Install Error: Cannot connect to Active Directory

SYMPTOM

 

Messageware installation fails with the following error:

 

“Error: Can not connect to Active Directory . Path: LDAP://rootDSE. RC: 8007054B. Internal: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. Error: 8007054b. Refer to \Program Files\Exchsrvr\<product name>\Install\Install6B.log”

“Setup encountered an unexpected error. GetWebSites rc=301”

 

RESOLUTION

 

This issue occurs as a result of performing an installation on the Windows 2003 server without using an administrative account with domain rights. To resolve this issue logon to the Windows Server with an administrative account that has domain rights.

The error indicates that the account used to run the install program may not have domain administrative privileges. To resolve this issue logon to the server with an account that has domain administrative rights.
