Error when converting attachments in the online archive mailbox

SYMPTOM

 

When a user attempts to convert an attachment that is located in an archived mailbox and using conversation view they receive the following error message:

 

Failed to retrieve email information. (33 - 0x0)

 

CAUSE

 

This occurs because the ability to view attachments inside of archived mailboxes is currently not supported.  This ability will be supported the future release of AttachView for Exchange Server 2010 SP1.

 

RESOLUTION

 

To correct this behavior, apply the updated service worker.  This will cross out the binocular icon with a not allowed icon.

 

1.     On the CAS, download and extract the following file to a temporary location http://w3.messageware.com/download/support/Kb/597_AttachView_2010_UpdatedServiceWorker.zip

2.     Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware\AttachView\Service Worker\

a.     Rename the existing AV_ServiceWorker.dll to AV_ServiceWorker.old

b.    Paste the updated AV_ServiceWorker.dll

c.     Verify the NTFS permissions match with the existing directory

3.     Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service for changes to take immediate effect
