Users receive an error when attempting to convert any Office files or PDF files

SYMPTOM

 

Users receive the following error when converting any Office files or PDF files using the AttachView binocular icon: 

 

Messageware AttachView for Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access

(-2147221452 - 0x80040034)

 

 

CAUSE

 

This occurs if the AttachView conversion engines have not been successfully registered during installation of AttachView 1.9.

 

RESOLUTION

 

To correct this behavior apply the following steps on the Exchange server to manually register the AttachView conversion engines.

 

1.     On the CAS, open up a command prompt (start\run\cmd)

2.     Navigate to the COM directory (\Program Files\Messageware\AttachView\COM\)

a.     Type the following:

                                                  i.    regsvr32 baseengine.dll

                                                 ii.    regsvr32 PEEngine.dll

                                                iii.    regsvr32 PEAVEngine.dll

                                                iv.    regsvr32 ConvEngine.dll

                                                 v.    regsvr32 PDFEngine.dll

3.     On the CAS, open up the AttachView Management Console (Start\All Programs\Messageware AttachView\)

4.     Click the Cache tab

5.     Click the Flush button

6.     Click on Yes, Apply and Ok
