Users may see various issues when Anonymous authentication is configured on the EWS virtual directory

SYMPTOM

 

Users may see various issues in Outlook Web Access when Anonymous authentication is configured on the EWS virtual directory in IIS.

 

Symptom 1:

 

When clicking on the Manage Delegates link, the following error occurs: “Process Error. Please Repeat”

 

Symptom 2:

 

The Personal Contacts list appear to be empty

 

Symptom 3:

 

The following error occurs when trying to print calendars using OWA Print: “Unable to retrieve requested resource”

 

 

RESOLUTION

 

1.       On the CAS, open the IIS Manager (Start\Run\inetmgr)

2.       Navigate to Web Sites and expand your OWA Web Site 

3.       Right click the EWS virtual directory, and select Properties

4.       Navigate to the Directory Security tab and click Edit under Authentication and access control

5.       Uncheck Anonymous Authentication

6.       Click Apply and OK
