Users connected via WHALE VPN receive error “404 page not found” when converting attachments in OWA

This article applies to the following products:
     Messageware AttachView v1.8a 2007

When going through Microsoft Whale SSL VPN portal and accessing Outlook Web Access 2007 a 404 Page Not found error occurs after trying to convert an attachment.

The attachment URL that is called is using all upper case of HTTPS instead of lower case https.  The WHALE VPN does not recognize all upper case and it tries to resolve the host server name instead of encrypting the URL.

Using the CustomUpdate function of WHALE, the WhlFiltSecureRemote_HTTPS.xml file has to be edited.  The WhlFiltSecureRemote_HTTPS.xml is located under the following path \Whale-Com\e-Gap\von\conf\WebSites\<vpn_name>\Conf\

Copy and Paste the following file WhlFiltSecureRemote_HTTPS.xml to this location path \Whale-Com\e-Gap\von\conf\CustomUpdate

Remove the existing entries and add the following data change.

<SEARCH encoding="">HTTPS:</SEARCH>

<REPLACE encoding="">https:</REPLACE>

In addition, the following updated AttachView files need to be applied on the CAS and the Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64).
