Users are unable to view attachments which are accessed from a SharePoint site

SYMPTOM

 

When accessing a SharePoint site containing attachments using the Documents link in OWA, clicking the binocular icon to convert an attachment generates the following error message:

    

“For security reasons, Outlook Web Access is configured to prevent access to this type of document or folder. For more information, contact technical support for your organization. (71 - 0x0)

 

CAUSE

 

The error message occurs when the SharePoint site is configured to a non-standard TCP Port (i.e. port 81) and the hostname of the SharePoint site is not configured on the Allow List located in the Remote File Servers tab in the Exchange Management Console.

 

RESOLUTION

 

The steps below indicate how to add the SharePoint site containing a non-standard TCP Port to the Allow List located in the Remote File Servers tab in the Exchange Management Console.

 

 

Note: The following needs to be applied on all CASs computer accounts where Messageware is installed   

 

1.     On the CAS, open up the Exchange Management Console

a.     Select Server Configuration->Client Access

b.     Right-click the owa virtual directory and select Properties

c.     Navigate to the Remote File Servers tab

d.     Click the Allow button under the Allow List section

e.     Type the name of the SharePoint site including the port number (i.e. sharepointsite:81)

f.      Click the Add icon, then click OK, Apply and OK

2.     Run the iisreset /noforce command for changes to take effect.
