This article applies to the following products:
Messageware Plus Pack 2003 v 6.0 and earlier
Messageware Plus Pack 2000 v 6.0 and earlier

SYMPTOM

Users may experience various unexpected behaviors when using the Plus Pack features in Outlook Web Access after applying an Exchange Service Pack, Post Service Pack Roll-up or a Hot Fix.

CAUSE

Exchange Service Packs, Post Service Pack Roll-ups or Hot Fixes, may partially or fully overwrite Plus Pack enhancements to Outlook Web Access. This may result in loss of functionality or may cause an inability to access Exchange through Outlook Web Access.

It is important to keep current on Exchange Service Packs, however in order to interoperate with the new Exchange Service Pack, it is necessary to install or update the Plus Pack for Outlook Web Access.

Before applying an Exchange update, verify whether the fixes are supported by the Plus Pack and whether any action is necessary to co-exist with the Exchange update.

It is strongly recommended to follow the Plus Pack’s upgrade procedure when applying the Exchange Service Packs.

RESOLUTION

Exchange update procedure:

    1.    Remove the Plus Pack for Outlook Web Access through Add/Remove Programs
    2.    Apply or reapply the Exchange Service Pack, Post Service Pack Roll-up or Hot Fix
    3.    Install the latest Plus Pack for Outlook Web Access

NOTE: failure to follow the above procedure may result in an inoperable Outlook Web Access interface when the Plus Pack for Outlook Web Access is uninstalled. Reapply Exchange Service Packs in order to restore operation.
