Users are receiving multiple popup windows when clicking on a mailto link using Internet Explorer

SYMPTOM

 

Users receieve multiple popup windows when using ActiveSend to send messages by clicking on a mail to link in Internet Explorer     

 

 

CAUSE

 

This is caused by a specific registry key that is conflicting with the ActiveSend functionality on the client workstation.

 

RESOLUTION

 

The steps below indicate on deleting the specific registry key from the client workstation to correct this behavior. We recommend downloading a latest version of ActiveSend prior to applying the steps below as a re-installation may be required.

 

1.     On the affected workstation, uninstall ActiveSend using the Add/Remove programs applet (Start\Run\appwiz.cpl)

2.     After successful removal, open up the registry editor (Start\Run\regedit)

a.     Navigate to HK_Local_Machine > Software > Clients

b.    Right-Click on News and select Export

c.     Save the settings as news.reg file on the desktop

d.    Right-Click on News and select Delete

e.     Click OK on the Confirm Key Delete popup window and close the Registry Editor

3.     Install the latest version of ActiveSend
