Users frequently receive a “Server Too Busy” message when viewing attachments

SYMPTOM

 

Users frequently receive a “Server Too Busy” message when viewing attachments.  Additionally, the following event warnings may be logged in the Event Viewer

 

Event Source:    W3SVC

Event ID:           1013

Description:

A process serving application pool 'AttachView' exceeded time limits during shut down. The process id was 'xxxx'.

 

Event Source:    Messageware AttachView

Event ID:           116

Description:

Attachview failed to load file C:\Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Temp\113158946\images/printicon.gif Error: 3 The system cannot find the path specified. for user domain\username  from 192.168.0.1 Referer https://servername/X-attachview/cmd/show/file/1190631164/3499628485_2_4_4105_I2/3499628485_2_4_4105_I228320.htm

 

 

CAUSE

 

This behaviour may be related to failures occurring in the AttachView Application pool

 

RESOLUTION

 

 

To correct this issue proceed with the action items below.


1.     Open the IIS Manager

2.     Expand Application Pools

3.     Right-click the AttachView application pool and select Properties

4.     Navigate to the Health tab

a.     Uncheck Enable rapid-fail protection

b.     Under Startup time limit, change the value from 90 to 180

c.     Under the Shutdown time limit, change the value from 90 to 180

d.     Click Apply and OK

5.     Recycle the AttachView application pool (Right-click the AttachView application pool and click Recycle)

6.     Right-click the AttachView application pool and select Properties

7.     On the Recycling tab, ensure that Recycle worker processes (in minutes) is set to 60

a.     Click Apply and OK
