ActiveSend silent installation does not complete on a computer with limited access

SYMPTOM

 

After a silent installation, ActiveSend does not appear in Add or Remove Programs applet or in the Start Menu.

CAUSE

 

This behavior occurs if the account running the silent installation does not have full Administrator privileges.

RESOLUTION

To correct this behavior follow the steps below.



  1. On the server that is being used to deploy the silent installation, ensure that the account being used is a local account with administering privileges or a domain administrator account
  2. Run the silent installation using the following command line:  msiexec /I “\\<server_name>\<file_share>\Messageware_ActiveSend_v<81a/82>.msi” /qn /lie c:\log.txt

      Note: The switch /lie c:\log.txt will output the installation information to a log file if an error occurs
