     Messageware Plus Pack 2007 v1.6

SYMPTOM

When Symantec Enterprise Vault is installed on a CAS that has the Plus Pack installed, the Symantec features appear to be missing from the OWA interface.

CAUSE

When Symantec Enterprise Vault is installed on a server that has the Plus Pack installed, Symantec chooses to hide it's icons as it is unable to read the hidden message of the user.

RESOLUTION

To correct this issue, an updated core file has to be placed on the CAS and the settings file has to include a configuration setting.

Note: Restarting the Word Wide Web Publishing Service is required

Note: Verify the NTFS permissions of the updated file

  1. Download and extract the following file to a temporary location http://w3.messageware.com/download/support/kb/354_CoreServicesDLL.zip
  2. On the CAS, Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware\Common Files
    1. Rename the existing CoreServices.dll to CoreServices.old
    2. Paste the new CoreServices.dll
    3. Verify the NTFS permissions match
  3. On the CAS, Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware\Common Files\Settings
    1. Right-Click on CoreSettings.xml and select Open With > Notepad
    2. Under the CoreSettings section enter in the following line

<ITEM ID = “77” DESCR=”Ignore Local Host” VALUE=”1”>

    1. Select File > Save and exit Notepad
  1. Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service
  2. On the CAS, open up Internet Explorer and type in the URL: https://localhost/owa
  3. Login to OWA on a client machine
  4. Users are now able to view Symantec Enterprise Vault and Plus Pack Address Book in OWA
