Event error ID1000 is generated on a CAS which is hosted on Windows Server 2008

SYMPTOM

 

After the Plus Pack is installed on a Windows Server 2008 the following Application error may occur in the event log:

Description:
Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 7.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47919ed8, faulting module CoreServices.dll, version 1.5.0.17, time stamp 0x482c8085, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00000000000077d8, process id 0x1878, application start time 0x01c901b31afdeea3.

 

When this error occurs the World Wide Web Publishing Service may become unresponsive temporarily.

 

RESOLUTION

 

The following steps include downloading and applying an updated Core Services file on the CAS where the Plus Pack is installed.

 

1.     On the Exchange Server, download and extract the update to a temporary location from the link below: http://w3.messageware.com/download/support/KB/345_Core_R531_EventID1000_11192008.zip 

2.     Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware\Common Files

3.     Rename the file CoreServices.dll to CoreServices.old

4.     Copy the updated CoreServices.dll file to this location

Note: Verify the NTFS permissions on the newly applied file to match that of the existing file

5.     Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service
