Users receive a “Conversion of this file has not been completed at this time. (43 -0x0)” error message

SUMMARY

When clicking the binocular icon next to a .pdf attachment, the “AttachView Loading…” window appears, however the attachment is not displayed; additionally if the user clicks the Cancel button, the following error appears:

Conversion of this file has not been completed at this time. (43 -0x0)

CAUSE

This behavior occurs as a result of an issue related to the AttachView PDF conversion engine.  An updated PDF Engine is available to correct this issue. This correction has been included in the latest version of AttachView.

RESOLUTION

Resolution 1: Applying the updated PDF Engine

  1. Extract the new files from the link below
    http://w3.messageware.com/download/support/kb/304_PDFEngine_and_bin_vdir.zip
  2. STOP the World Wide Web Publishing Service
  3. Open the Component Services snap-in from the mmc
    1. Navigate to Component Services\Computers\My Computer\COM+ Applications\
    2. From the action menu select Shut down for the “AttachView PDFEngine” and “AttachView BaseEngine”
  4. Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\COM
    1. Rename PDFEngine.dll to PDFEngine.old and rename the BaseEngine.dll to BaseEngine.old
    2. Copy in the new PDFEngine.dll and baseengine.dll
    3. Register the new PDFEngine.dll  and BaseEngine.DLL using regsvr32
  5. Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\pdf
    1. Rename the current “bin” folder to “Bin_old”
    2. Copy in the new “bin” folder
  6. Open a command prompt, and navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\pdf
    1. Register (regsvr32) the new Pdf2ImgOCX.dll within the bin by typing the command below:
      regsvr32 Pdf2ImgOCX.dll
  7. Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Vdir\Bin
    1. Rename AttachViewIsapi.dll to AttachViewIsapi.old and AttachView.dll to AttachView.old
    2. Copy in the new AttachViewIsapi.dll and AttachView.dll
  8. Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\engine\ini
    1. Rename the current wordstyle.ini to wordstyle.old
    2. Copy in the new wordstyle.ini
  9. Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Settings
    1. Rename the PDFSettings_0.xml file to PDFSettings_0.old
    2. Copy in the new PDFSettings_0.xml
  10. START the World Wide Web Publishing Service
