When viewing an attachment users may receive a “Failed to retrieve email information (33 – 0x0)” error

SYMPTOM

 

When viewing an attachment users receive the following error message:

 

“Failed to retrieve email information (33 – 0x0)”

 

 

CAUSE

 

This issue occurs because the EWS virtual directory is protected in IIS under the RSA SecurID tab.

    

RESOLUTION

 

To resolve this issue, apply the steps below on the CAS where RSA is installed. A restart of the IIS Admin Service is required.

 

 

1.     On the Client Access Server, Launch the IIS Manager (Start/Run/inetmgr)

2.     Navigate to Web Sites > Default Web Site > EWS

3.     Right-Click on EWS and select Properties

4.     Click on the RSA SecurID tab

5.     Uncheck the “Protect this Resource”

6.     Click on Apply and OK

7.     Restart IIS Admin Service (Start/Run/iisreset /noforce)
