Users are unable to forward or reply to messages when the subject line contains special characters

SUMMARY

 

This article includes steps on applying a hotfix which corrects the behavior where the Send button is grayed out when forwarding or replying to messages. This behavior only occurs if the message contains special characters in the subject line.

RESOLUTION

 

This behavior can be corrected by following the steps outlined below on applying the hotfix:

1.     Extract the hot fix from the link below
http://w3.messageware.com/download/support/kb/290_PP_SpecialChars_Fix.zip  

2.     Navigate to \Program Files\Exchsrvr\exchweb\6.5.7651.60\controls

3.     Rename ctrl_Message.js to ctrl_Message.old

4.     Copy in the new ctrl_Message.js file

5.     Verify that the NTFS permissions of the new ctrl_Message.js match those of the old ctrl_Message.js
