When clicking on the AttachView binocular icon users receive "AttachView was not able to access the Active Directory resource”

SYMPTOM

 

Users receive the following error message when viewing an attachment by clicking on the AttachView binocular icon:

 

AttachView was unable to access the Active Directory resource. This may be because the Active Directory object does not exist or the object has become corrupted, or because you do not have sufficient access rights for the object. (73 - 0x0)”

 

This issue pertains to an environment where there are multiple domains existing in the same forest.

 

RESOLUTION

 

A fix has been created to resolve this issue. The steps below include upgrading to AttachView v1.6 (Build 510) prior to applying the fix.

 

1.     Upgrading to the latest version of Messageware Products

2.     Applying the two updated .dll files

a.     On each CAS, download and extract the updated dlls to a temporary location using the link below:

b.    Navigate to \Program Files\Messageware\AttachView\VDir\Bin

c.     Rename the existing AttachViewIsapi.dll to AttachViewIsapi.old

d.    Paste the new AttachViewIsapi.dll and verify the NTFS permissions

e.     Rename the existing AttachView.dll to AttachView.old

f.     Paste the new AttachView.dll and verify the NTFS permissions

g.    Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service for the changes to take effect
