How to disable IPv6 on a Windows 2008 server

This article applies to the following products:
     Messageware OWA Suite 2007

SUMMARY

On a Windows Server 2008 both IPv4 and IPv6 are enabled by default; however, IIS 7 communicates internally only via IPv6.

Messageware AttachView, NavGuard and TimeGuard support IPv4 based rule configuration. To process these rules AttachView requests the IP address from IIS, and IIS 7 passes an IPv6 address to AttachView which causes the rule to fail.

To implement Messageware products on Windows Server 2008, IPv6 must be disabled as outlined in the configuration section below.

CONFIGURATION

1.     Launch the Network Connections applet by running ncpa.cpl from the Start\Run

2.     Disable TCP/IPv6 and click OK

3.     Open the Registry editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters\
Add a new Dword called DisabledComponents with a value of 0xFF

4.     Restart the computer
