When logging into OWA through ISA 2004 and saving a file attachment, users receive “Status Code: 400” error

When logging into OWA via ISA 2004 and saving attachments using AttachView, users receive the following error message:

An error has occurred attempting to download the file.

Status Code: 400


HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request

Content-Length: 685

Connection: Close





This issue occurs when ISA 2004 is configured to block file attachments.




To correct this behavior, apply the following steps on the ISA 2004 server:


1.       Launch the ISA Server Management Console from the Start menu

2.       Expand left pane to the Firewall Policy

3.       In right hand pane, select the web publishing rule, right click and select properties

4.       Select the Listener tab and click on Properties button

5.       Select the Preferences tab and click on Authentication button

6.       Click on the Configure button

7.       Ensure under Email Attachments the options for both clients on public machines and clients on private machines are unchecked

8.       Click Apply and Okay to exit out of Dialog boxes


Note: Click on the Apply button prior to exiting the ISA Server Management Console
