When using the Compress and Attach feature in Plus Pack, the selected file does not get attached

     Messageware NavGuard 2000

     Messageware Plus Pack 2003

     Messageware Plus Pack 2000

SYMPTOM

When composing a message in Outlook Web Access and attaching a file using the Plus Pack’s Compress and Attach feature, the selected file does not get attached. If using an HTTP connection, there is no error message displayed on the screen. If using HTTPS and Forms Based Authentication to connect, the user is directed to the FBA login page.

CAUSE

The behavior described above is caused by the security logic which NavGuard implies, where the user agent string used by the Compress and Attach feature is blocked by NavGuard’s security settings.

RESOLUTION

To correct this behavior the user agent string used by the Compress and Attach feature has to be manually added to the NavGuard settings file.

Although the settings.xml is configurable by the Exchange Administrator, we suggest contacting our Support department for any assistance in modifying the settings.xml file as changing an incorrect setting or value may cause undesired behavior.
