PDF files that contain small fonts may not print clearly when using the Messageware AttachView print option

SUMMARY

 

PDF files that contain small fonts may not appear clearly when viewing and/or printing using the Print function in AttachView.

 

RESOLUTION

For improved quality when printing and viewing attachments, follow the configuration changes below:

 

1.     On the Exchange server, navigate to \Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Settings

2.     Open the PDFSettings_0.xml file using Notepad

3.     Modify the DPI value <OPTION ID="1" DESCR="DPI" VALUE="96"/> with the setting below:

 

Change the DPI value to 128 (To keep the pdf within the viewing window and generate an improved printout). The DPI value may be changed to obtain a desired result in the AttachView viewing window

 

4.     Change the image format from .jpeg to .png in <OPTION ID="8" DESCR="Image format" VALUE=".png" />

5.     Remove all the conversions that are currently cached on the server

 

a.     Open the AttachView Administrative Console (Start\All Programs\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access)

b.    On the left pane highlight Global Settings and navigate to the Cache tab

c.     Click the Flush button

 

6.     Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service for changes to take effect

: Ensure that the AttachView cache is cleared every time the DPI value is changed as outlined in step 5.
