Messageware functionality impacted when the Exchange server IP address is denied access to OWA

     Messageware AttachView 2003
     Messageware CalendarShare 2003
     Messageware Plus Pack 2003

SUMMARY

 

When the IP address of the Exchange server where Messageware products are installed is denied in the IP Address restrictions in the IIS Manager at the Default Web Site level, the following behaviour occurs

Symptom 1: The Plus Pack functionality is not present
Symptom 2: Script errors appear at the bottom left of the browser (Internet Explorer only)
Symptom 3: CalendarShare functionality is not present

Symptom 4: A “File retrieval (31 – 0x0)” error occurs when viewing attachments in AttachView

RESOLUTION

 

To correct this issue, grant access to the IP address of the Exchange server in the IP Address restrictions in the IIS Manager at the Default Web Site level by following the steps below

 

1.        Open the IIS Manager and expand <Server>/Web Sites

2.        Right click on the OWA web site and click Properties

3.        Navigate to the Directory Security tab and select Edit under the IP address and domain name restrictions section

4.        Click the Denied access radio button

5.        Click the Add button and enter the IP address of the front end server
Click OK in the IP address and domain name restrictions window

6.        Click Apply and OK

7.        Restart the World Wide Web Publishing service for changes to take effect
