SYMPTOM

When using the Manage Delegates console to add a folder delegate, the user receives the following  error message:

“You do not have sufficient permissions to assign delegates.”

RESOLUTION

To ensure if the user can add delegates, the Administrator must enable the “Write Personal Information” permission to the SELF account for the user adding the delegate. To apply this setting, follow the steps below:

  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers
  2. Click Advanced Features if it is not already selected on the View menu
  3. Expand the domain, and locate the user’s Organizational Unit (OU) object
  4. In the right pane, right-click the user who is experiencing the delegate issue, and select Properties
  5. Select the Security tab, locate the SELF account, and check the Write Personal Information option
  6. Click OK and close Active Directory Users and Computers
  7. Verify if the user is now able to add delegates
