Users receive "This page has expired" error when viewing attachments

This article applies to the following products:
     Messageware AttachView 2003
     Messageware AttachView 2000

 

SUMMARY

 

When viewing attachments a new window opens containing the error “This page has expired”. There are several causes for this issue; some of the possible causes are outlined below.

·         An older version of AttachView is installed

·         The server is running in a load-balanced configuration with persistence disabled

·         Execute permission is not enabled for the X-AttachView virtual directory

·         Applies to Windows Server 2003 only - AttachView Application Pool is not configured to use the Local System account

·         Applies to RSA SecurID only - Misconfiguration in authentication settings in environments with RSA

 

RESOLUTION

 

The resolutions are associated with the causes mentioned above based on the order in which they appear.

Verify AttachView version

Verify that persistence is enabled on the load balancer
When a user views an attachment the attachment is converted into html files that are temporarily cached on the Exchange Server. The persistence option must be enabled on the network load balancer to ensure all AttachView requests are consistently directed to the server where the converted files are located.

Enable Execute permissions for the X-AttachView virtual directory
Follow the steps below to enable Execute permission for the X-AttachView virtual directory

 

1.        Open the IIS Manager and navigate to the OWA website

2.        Select Properties on X-AttachView virtual directory

3.        Select the Virtual Directory tab

4.        Chang e the Execute Permissions to Scripts and Executables

5.        Click on the Apply and OK buttons


Applies to Windows Server 2003 only - Configure the AttachView application pool to use the Local System account
Follow the steps below to configure the AttachView application pool to use the Local System account

 

1.        Open the IIS Manager and navigate to Local computer\Application Pools

2.        Right click on AttachView and select Properties

3.        On the Identity tab select the Predefined radio button, if not already selected, and choose the Local System account from the drop down menu

4.        Click Apply and OK

5.        Recycle the AttachView application pool by right-clicking on the AttachView pool and selecting Recycle
