Active Directory Restricted View interoperability with Basic Authentication

This article applies to the following products:
     Messageware AttachView 2003

     Messageware AttachView 2000

SYMPTOM

The Active Directory Restricted View criteria option in the AttachView Administrative Console, does not apply in environments where only Basic Authentication is configured.

CAUSE

When Basic Authentication is configured and the default domain name is specified in IIS, users are able to login to Outlook Web Access using their username and password. The domain information is not required for the logon process.

The Active Directory Restricted View criteria in AttachView, requires the domain information to do a lookup in the Active Directory for objects that have the MSExchQueryBaseDN configured for restricted views.

RESOLUTION

To ensure interoperation, apply the below steps:

1.     On the Exchange server, navigate to Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Settings

2.     The following entry needs to be modified in each <settings_x.xml> file. Open each file in notepad and specify the Domain Name in MEASURE ID=”66” as shown below:

a.     <MEASURE ID="66" DESCR="Domain" VALUE="Domain Name" />

3.     Apply the above change to all the remaining <settings_x.xml> files

4.     Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service for the changes to be applied
