How to configure Messageware AttachView as a subfolder to Exchange

SUMMARY

 

This article outlines how to configure the Messageware AttachView folders to be configured as subfolders to the Exchange Virtual Directory. 

 

This configuration is not suggested unless indicated by the Messageware Support Department or when configuring Messageware AttachView criteria based on Active Directory User Groups or Logon IDs in an environment protected by Exchange Forms Based Authentication.

 

RESOLUTION

 

Follow the steps below to move the AttachView folders to be subfolders to the Exchange Virtual Directory.

 

1.     Back up the metabase by making a copy of the metabase.xml file located in <winsysdir>\inetsrv

2.     Create the BIN virtual folder

a.     In the IIS Manager, navigate to the OWA web site

b.    Right-click on the Exchange virtual directory and select New ...Virtual Directory Enter the Alias: BIN, click Next

c.     Enter the Path: C:\Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Vdir\Bin, click Next

d.    Select: Read, Run Scripts, Execute, click Next

e.     Click Finish

3.     Setting the script maps for BIN virtual folder

a.     Start a command prompt and navigate to c:\inetpub\adminscripts

b.    Run the following command, all on one line without pressing ENTER, paying careful attention to the quotes and spacing

cscript adsutil.vbs set w3svc/1/root/exchange/bin/ScriptMaps ".srf,C:\Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\VDir\Bin\attachviewisapi.dll,0,GET,POST"

If successful, the result will show:

4.     Create the IMAGES virtual folder

a.     In the IIS Manager, navigate to the OWA web site

b.    Right-click on the Exchange virtual directory and select New ...Virtual Directory

c.     Enter the Alias: IMAGES, click Next

d.    Enter the Path: C:\Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Vdir\Images, click Next

e.     Select: Read, Run Scripts, click Next

f.     Click Finish

5.     Setting the script maps for IMAGES virtual folder

a.     In IIS Manager, right-click on IMAGES virtual folder and select Properties

b.    Select the Configuration button

c.     Remove the wildcard application map by clicking on the wildcard application map (there is only one) and click Delete

d.    From the Directory Security verify that the IMAGES virtual directory has Anonymous Access enabled

6.     Change the AttachView settings files

a.     Navigate to C:\Program Files\Messageware Incorporated\AttachView for Outlook Web Access\Settings directory

b.    Modify the below files in Notepad to direct the AttachView product to now use 'exchange' virtual folder

7.     Restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service for the changes to take effect
